JUDGMENT

Petitioner has responded to Ext.P1 notification for appointment for the post of Peon in the Punjab National Bank. Out of the 5 permanent vacancies, one vacancy was reserved for dependent of ex-servicemen. Petitioner claims that, he was one of the candidate sponsored by the Zilla Sainik Welfare Office, Alappuzha on the basis of Ext.P1 notification and Ext.P4 intimation. The grievance is that, according to his information, dependents of ex-servicemen are ousted from the zone of selection.

Learned Standing Counsel for the respondents relied on Annexure-R2(A), which is stated to be the guidelines formulated by the Central Government with regard to reserving vacancies in civil posts for ex-servicemen and dependents of servicemen. According to the Regulation, reservation is provided to disabled persons/personnel and dependents of those killed in action in civil employment. Evidently, petitioner does not satisfy any of the above criteria. Father of the petitioner is also alive.

Having considered these facts, I do not find any justification in the claim set up by the petitioner.

Writ Petition fails and is dismissed.
