The petitioner is seeking expeditious disposal of SC No.302 of 2018 pending before the Sessions Court, Thalassery. The case arose from Crime No.

474 of 2017 of Chokli Police Station registered for offences under Sections 498A and 306 of IPC pursuant to the suicidal death of the petitioner's daughter, allegedly due to the harassment meted out by her husband. The crime was registered on 24.4.2017 and final report was filed on 31.12.2017.

2. The jurisdictional judge reported that the case was posted on 19.06.2020 for framing charge and stands adjourned to 06.01.2021. It is stated that the hearing on charge could not be conducted as there was no regular sitting on the notified

dates and that the case can be taken up and disposed of in six months.

I consider the time limit of six months to be reasonable and accordingly, the original petition is disposed of directing the District and Sessions Judge, Thalassery to take earnest efforts to conduct trial and to pronounce the judgment in SC No.302 of 2018 within a period of six months.
