JUDGMENT

The petitioner has approached this court through this writ
petition, praying that his application for re-issue of his passport,
a copy of which is on record as Ext.P1, be directed to be
disposed of by the 1st respondent, Regional Passport Officer,
within a short time.

2.Shri Jayasankar Nair, the learned Central Government
Counsel, appearing on behalf of the respondents, submits that
the Passport Authority has found several causes for concern in
the petitioner's application, including that his earlier passport
had another photograph and also that said authority has
information, through the police verification report, that the
petitioner is involved in several crimes. He, however, says that
the Passport Authority will consider the petitioner's application,
in terms of law and communicate the resultant decision, within a
short time frame.

In the afore circumstances, without entering into the merits
of any of the contentions of the rival parties, I direct the 1st
respondent to take up and consider Ext.P1 application of the

petitioner and dispose it of as per law, as expeditiously as is
possible, but not later than two months from the date of receipt
of a copy of this judgment, after causing all necessary
imperative enquiry and verifications.
