The challenge in this writ petition is against the appointment to the post of meter readers in the Kerala State Electricity Board.

The contention is that 40% of vacancies of meter readers are set apart for appointment of qualified in-service candidates. However, no such appointments had been made in Ernakulam District. Though, the writ petition was filed on 11.07.2005, no interim orders were issued. By efflux of time, the

prayers in the writ petition have become infructuous.

Hence, this writ petition is dismissed as infructuous.
