The petitioner is working Associate Professor in English under the fourth respondent's college. Earlier, she filed Ext.P1 application for reimbursement of the medical expenses to the tune of Rs.1,99,686/- incurred in connection with the treatment of her spouse at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvuananthapuram. The original bills submitted along with the application were later found missing. On account of the missing of such bills during transit, there occurred considerable delay in consideration of reimbursement of the medical expenses. Though the petitioner submitted representations, the respondents have not taken actions thereon. It is in the said circumstances that the petitioner was constrained to approach this Court by filing the captioned writ

I have heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Pleader. The admitted case of the petitioner is

that such bills submitted by her were lost during transit. The petitioner was permitted to obtain certified copies of such bills from the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvuananthapuram and submit the same before the competent authority to enable that authority to consider the issue of reimbursement of medical expenses. Obviously, availing the said opportunity, the petitioner obtained the certified copies of the bills and

the bills submitted by the petitioner have been forwarded to the second respondent. Since the second respondent is already in receipt of the certified copies of the bills, I am inclined to dispose of this writ petition with a direction to the second respondent to consider the entitlement of the petitioner for which Ext.P1 application was submitted, in the light of the certified copies of the bills now

submitted by her. Such a decision shall be taken expeditiously and in accordance with law, at any rate, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment. It is made clear that in

view of circumstances obtained in this case the said application shall

not be rejected on the ground of non-availability of the original bills.
