J U D G M E N T

The petitioner herein is seeking for a direction to the University to issue an Equivalency Certificate in respect of the M.Phil Degree granted by the Madurai Kamaraj University.

She is a Post Graduate in M.Sc Mathematics from Calicut University. She has also secured B.Ed from the same University. M.Phil Degree was acquired from the Madurai Kamaraj University under Distance Education Programme as evident from Ext.P1 Certificate. Ext.P2 is the communication stating that the request has been rejected but no reasons are forthcoming. Evidently, the Academic Council will have to consider the matter after referring to the study materials and other relevant aspects in the matter.

In that view of the matter, there will be a direction to the University to place the request for Equivalency Certificate in respect of the Certificate obtained by the petitioner under the Distant Education Programme in the the next meeting of the Academic Council and communicate the decision to the petitioner accordingly. The writ petition is disposed of as above. No costs.
