These Original Petitions are filed for assignment of land occupied by the petitioners in their favour. Government has raised a dispute stating that lands resumed from Kannan Devan Hills are forest lands which cannot be assigned. It is now stated that Settlement Officer is appointed to identify the nature of land for the purpose of settlement of dispute raised by petitioners and similarly situated persons. Connected cases have been disposed by a Division Bench of this Court vide judgment in OP 24837 of 1999 and connected cases. These O.Ps. are therefore disposed of leaving freedom to the petitioners to approach the Settlement Officer who is directed to dispose of the application of the petitioners at the earliest and in any case within six months from now. Petitioners will move application before the Settlement Officer within

two months from now. Interim orders passed by this Court will

continue for six months from now.
