Prayers in the writ petition are as follows:

“a) Issue a writ of mandamus or appropriate writs, directions or orders directing the respondent to induct the petitioner to the post of Assistant Professor 10000-15200 with effect from 16.3.1996 and to conduct career advancement promotion to the post of Associate Professor with effect from 16.3.2001 under 1996 UGC scheme forthwith.”

Heard counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent. As far as the prayer relating to induct the petitioner to the post of Assistant Professor and conduct of career advancement promotion to the post of Associate Professor is concerned, it is submitted by the learned Standing Counsel that the University will consider the same if the petitioner is eligible for the same.

In such circumstances, there will be a direction to the respondent
