The petitioner approached this Court seeking for appropriate direction to release the pensionary benefits due to him with 18% interest from the date of retirement. He was Director and Ex-Officio Additional Secretary to the Government in the Science & Technology and Environment Department. The counter-affidavit shows that even though there were several items of liabilities against him, the only surviving one was in respect of an amount of Rs.25,972/-. It was also pointed out that if the petitioner is prepared to submit explanations for the purpose of dropping audit objection, the said item can also be cleared. Counsel for the petitioner requested for an opportunity to file appropriate representation before the Government for the said relief. Therefore, if the petitioner files such a representation before the competent authority within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment, the same will be considered by the authority competent to deal with the same and appropriate orders will be passed within three months from the date of receipt of that representation.
