Twenty D.Pharm students of R Muddurangegowda College of Pharmacy, Sira, and the College Principal (petitioner No.21) sought mandamus under Articles 226 and 227 directing respondent Nos.2 (Commissioner, Karnataka Drugs Control Department) and 3 (Board of Examination Authority, D Pharma) to generate registration numbers for the D.Pharma course for academic year 2023-2024. By interim order dated 13.01.2025 the Court had permitted petitioners Nos.1 to 20 to appear in the annual examination commencing 15.01.2025 and the practical examinations of D-Pharma Part-I and Part-II commencing 27.01.2025; however, at the request of petitioner No.21 (the Institution), permission was confined to petitioners No.1 to 4 and 14. Holding that, with the petitioners having taken the examination and the results being announced, nothing survived for consideration, the Court directed respondent No.3 to announce the results of the examination taken up by petitioners Nos.1 to 4 and 14, disposed of IA No. 1 of 2025, and disposed of the writ petition.

Having regard the interim order passed by this Court on 13.01.2025, permitting the petitioners Nos.1 to 20 to appear in the annual examination which was scheduled to commence from 15.01.2025 along with the practical examination of D-Pharma Part-I and Part-II commencing from 27.01.2025, directions are sought to the respondents to announce the results of the examination already taken up by the said petitioners.

However, learned Additional Government Advocate

submits that the petitioner No.21 - Institution where the petitioners are studying has requested that permission may be given only to five candidates. Accordingly, permission was given only to petitioners No.1 to 4 and 14 to take up the examination. Learned Additional Government Advocate would, therefore,
