of the POCSO Act on the basis of first information lodged by the first informant. The informant lodged the first information against the accused stating that she has studied upto 9th standard and thereafter, discontinued her studies and was doing coolie work. The accused who was also doing coolie work developed intimacy with her. Both of them were in love with each other. Informant stated that she is aged 17 years and the accused used to visit her house frequently. During November 2018, accused promised to marry her and committed penetrative sexual assault on her, repeatedly and thereafter, started threatening the informant not to reveal this fact to anybody. The victim stated that during December 2018, she informed the accused that she has conceived as result of his act, but subsequently, accused stated that he is not concerned about her pregnancy and switched off his mobile phone. Victim stated that, subsequently she delivered a baby girl in the District Hospital, Karwar on 20/8/2019. Therefore, she requested the police to register the case and to initiate legal action against the accused. Accordingly, the police registered the case and took up investigation.
