The petitioner has been made accused in connection with Maranghada P.S. Case No. 13 of 2023 (N.D.P.S. Case No.31 of 2023), for the offences registered under Sections 15(c)/25 of the N.D.P.S. Act, pending in the court of learned District Additional Sessions Judge-IInd, Khunti.

On 20.04.2023, Maranghada police intercepted a Tata Magic vehicle near forest area of village- Hodong. The occupants of the vehicle managed to escape from the place of occurrence. On search, 407.500 kg. of poppy husks were found loaded on the said vehicle.

It was submitted that the petitioner is the owner of the vehicle. It was further submitted that driver of the said vehicle without the knowledge of the petitioner was transporting the seized poppy husks. It was further submitted that petitioner is in custody since 01.07.2024.

Report regarding the stage of trial earlier called for, has been received. It appears that charge was framed in this case on 15.01.2025 and prosecution has not examined any witness.

In view of the aforesaid facts, I am inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail. Accordingly, the petitioner, above named, is directed to be released on bail on furnishing bail bonds of Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees twenty thousand) with two sureties of the like amount each, to the satisfaction of learned District Additional Sessions Judge-IInd, Khunti, in connection with Maranghada P.S. Case No. 13 of 2023 (N.D.P.S. Case No.31 of 2023).
