This writ petition has been filed with prayer for an appropriate order / direction for quashing the documents as contained in Annexure 2, which are the record of Khewats, prepared in the settlement operation in the year 1930. The grievance of the writ petitioner is that therein the caste of the ancestor of the petitioner has wrongly been mentioned. It is the specific case of the petitioners that though the caste of the petitioners as well as their ancestors namely Maka Lohar, who is the

son of the Kolay Munda, is Munda but the same has erroneously been recorded as Maka Lohar in Annexure 2, which is the Khewat, instead of being mentioned as Maka Munda, in the said Khewat prepared in the settlement operation of the year 1930.

At this, learned SC Mines I submits that the Caste Scrutiny Committee has been constituted by the State of Jharkhand and it is functioning under the Department of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and Minority Welfare Department, Government of Jharkhand and the Secretary of the said department is the Chairman of the Caste Scrutiny Committee and the office of the Secretary of the said department is situated in the second floor of Project Building, Dhurwa, Ranchi and submits that if the petitioners have any grievance regarding their caste, they can raise the grievance before the said committee.

At this, learned counsel for the petitioners seeks permission of the court to withdraw this writ petition with liberty to approach the said Caste Scrutiny Committee.

Considering the aforesaid facts and submissions made at the Bar, this writ petition is disposed of being withdrawn, with liberty to the petitioners to approach to the said Caste Scrutiny Committee in order to declare that the caste of the petitioners are Munda and not Lohar.

This writ petition is disposed of accordingly.
