The petitioners, through the medium of the present petition, seek a direction upon the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, for disposal of the applications moved by them seeking dropping of the

proceedings and modification of the order dated 27.05.2025 passed by the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, in a Domestic Violence Act petition, titled “Sabia Hussain & Anr. Vs. Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh & Ors.” within a reasonable period.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the respondent, who is the daughter-in-law of the petitioners, has instituted proceedings under the Domestic Violence Act, 2005,wherein they had moved the aforesaid applications, however, despite the applications having remained pending for more than one year, the matter has not been finally disposed of by the learned Magistrate. He further submits that, in view of the aforesaid submissions, the petitioners would be satisfied if the present petition is disposed of at this stage with a direction to the learned Magistrate to proceed with the matter expeditiously.

In view of the pleadings and the submissions made by learned counsel for the petitioners, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, to proceed in the matter expeditiously, in accordance with the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
