This is a petition for initiating contempt proceedings for willful defiance and non-compliance of the judgment dated 21.05.2013 passed in SWP No.1136/2013, whereby the respondents were directed to accord reconsideration to the case of the petitioner in light of the observations made in the case of Safia Begum v. State and others; 2010(1)JKJ 251 (HC) read with judgment passed in State of J&K and others v. Safia Begum; 2011(1) SLJ 369 within a period of eight weeks.
In response to the notices issued by this Court in these proceedings, the respondents have filed a compliance report and have also placed on record a speaking order issued by the Chief Engineer PW(R&B) Department, Jammu bearing No.13-PWD(R&B) of 2018 dated 18.07.2018, whereby the case of the petitioner upon reconsideration in terms of the judgment passed by his Court has been rejected. Direction passed by this Court for reconsideration of the case of the petitioner stands complied with and a detailed speaking order has been passed.
In that view of the matter, nothing survives for consideration in this petition. Therefore, same is closed. It is, however, open to the petitioner to challenge order dated 18.07.2018 by way of appropriate proceedings, if so advised.
