This Interlocutory Application has been filed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Group Centre, CRPF, Guwahati, seeking permission of

this Court for using the Arjun Bhogwawar Baruah Sports Complex (Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium), Sarusajai, for conducting the CRPF’s Anniversary Parade, 2026, w.e.f. 12.02.2026 to 23.02.2026.

A Division Bench of this Court, vide order dated 02.05.2016, passed in I.A. (C) No. 1296/2016 in PIL NO. 52/2014, had directed that the District Authorities would not use the stadium in question for the purposes other than sports, without prior permission of this Court.

It is in compliance of that direction passed by the Division Bench of this Court that the present application has been filed.

¶35

Taking into consideration the purpose for which the stadium is sought to be used, the permission is accorded. The applicant is allowed to hold the Anniversary Parade of the CRPF at the stadium in question.

¶36

We further modify the order dated 02.05.2026 to the extent that, henceforth, in case the District Authorities require the stadium in question for the purposes other than sports, then the administrative approval of the Chief Justice would suffice.
