Heard Mr. P K Munir, the learned counsel appearing for the applicants. Also heard Ms. M Choudhury, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the Insurance Company.

This application has been filed praying for modification of the order dated 07.09.2023 passed by this Court in MAC Appeal No.317/2016.

The Tribunal earlier directed payment of interest @ 8% per annum over the amount directed to be paid by the Insurance Company. Later on, this Court enhanced the compensation amount to ₹47,50,000/- (Rupees forty seven lakh fifty thousand), but nothing was mentioned about the interest.

I have considered the submissions made by the learned counsel of both sides. I have also gone through the objection filed by the Insurance Company.

¶30

It is hereby directed that the Insurance Company shall pay interest @ 6% per annum over the amount enhanced by this Court till full and final payment.

¶31

With the aforesaid direction, this IA stands disposed of accordingly.
