Mr. D. Das, learned Sr. Counsel assisted by Ms. N. Upadhyay, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the present writ petition has become infructuous in view of the Notification dated 05.10.2023 issued by the Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Labour Welfare Department.
“No. E200186/ : The Governor of Assam is pleased to enhance the minimum wages of the plantation workers in the State of Assam by an interim wage of Rs. 18/- per day w.e.f. 1st October, 2023 as was agreed by the stakeholders. Accordingly, the tea plantation workers in Brahmaputra Valley shall get an interim minimum wage of Rs.250/- per day from existing Rs.232/- per day and the tea plantation workers in Barak Valley shall get Rs.228/- per day from the existing Rs.210/- per day

The interim minimum wages for small tea garden workers will also be pegged at Rs.250/- per day in Brahmaputra Valley and Rs.228/- per day in Barak Valley in Assam w.e.f. 1st October, 2023 till further orders.”
