Heard Ms. S.B. Choudhury, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Shri P.J. Phukan, learned Standing Counsel, Gauhati University whereas Shri J. Chutia, learned counsel for the respondent no. 3 – Principal, Dispur Law College.

Considering the nature of the grievance and the instructions received by the learned counsel for the respondents, the writ petition is taken up for disposal at the admission stage.

The projection made in this writ petition is non-declaration of the result of the 10^th Semester of the 5 years Integrated Law Degree Course of the petitioner, who had appeared from the Dispur Law College. It has been submitted by Ms. Choudhury, learned counsel for the petitioner that in the Portal

of the Gauhati University, it was reflected as “Your Result is withheld due to discrepancies. Please contact your College or University”. She has submitted that the petitioner had appeared in all the papers of the 10^th Semester and as per instructions, marks were not given in one paper as a result of which, the whole results have been withheld.

On the other hand, Shri Chutia, learned counsel for the respondent no. 3 – College has submitted that so far as the paper no. 10.4 is concerned, there were major error in filling up the Exam Form, as a result of which no marks could allotted to the petitioner. He has also informed that in the 8^th Semester also, there are two papers, namely, paper nos. 8.2 and 8.3 which were back papers and the petitioners are also required to pass those papers to have a final result declared.

Shri Phukan, learned Standing Counsel, Gauhati University has submitted that the final results cannot be declared until a student clears all the papers of each Semester.

Ms. Choudhury, learned counsel for the petitioner has however submitted that so far as the two papers in the 8^th Semester, namely, paper nos. 8.2 and 8.3 are concerned, her client has already appeared in the said papers and results are awaited. She has also informed that so far as the paper no. 10.4 is concerned, the petitioner has already filled up the Form afresh for appearing in the said paper and as per information given to this Court by the learned counsel for the parties, the exams are scheduled on 17.06.2025.

In view of the aforesaid discussions, this Court is of the opinion that there is no requirement to keep this writ petition pending any further. Let the petitioner appear in the paper no. 10.4 which is scheduled on 17.06.2025 and

depending on the result of the same, the authorities would take a final decision for declaring the final results. It is needless to state that the final decision be taken strictly in accordance with law.
