Heard Mr. KD Sarma, learned counsel for the petitioners and Ms. MD Bora, learned Government Advocate, Assam.

Having regard to the nature of grievance expressed by the petitioners and the order that is proposed to be passed, issuance of formal notice is considered not necessary and the case is taken up for disposal at the motion stage itself.

It is stated that petitioners are having hotels (eateries) at JK Kedia Road, Hojai on the strength of trade licenses issued by Hojai Municipal Board. Trade license of the petitioner No.1 was last renewed on 23.06.2016 having validity up-to 31.03.2017 whereas in respect of petitioner No.2, it was last renewed on 18.04.2016 having validity up-to 31.03.2017 but thereafter both the licenses have not been renewed. In this connection, petitioners have submitted representations dated 13.09.2018 before the Chairman, Hojai Municipal Board but without any success.

Hence the writ petition.

On due consideration and having heard learned counsel for the parties, it is directed that Hojai Municipal Board shall consider the prayer of the petitioners for renewal of their trade licenses and subject to fulfillment of conditions, renew their respective licenses within a period of 15 days from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order.

Writ petition is disposed of.
