By way of this petition under Article 226 of the Constitution, the petitioner seeks parole for a period of four weeks, in connection with FIR No. 979/2006, registered at Police Station Uttam Nagar, Delhi, under Sections 302/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 [“IPC”].

The petitioner was convicted of offences under Sections 302/34 of the IPC vide judgment dated 21.05.2011, passed by the learned Sessions Court, and was sentenced to life imprisonment. The petitioner’s appeal against the aforesaid judgement was dismissed vide order dated 30.05.2014, by this Court.

I am informed that the petitioner has been incarcerated for a period of seven years in connection with these proceedings.

By an earlier writ petition [W.P.(CRL) 4013/2025], the petitioner approached this Court seeking parole for a period of four weeks, and vide order dated 07.04.2026, he was granted liberty to approach the Jail Authorities for the same relief.

In the present petition, the petitioner’s grievance is that, pursuant to the said order, he had approached the Jail Authorities seeking parole on 15.05.2026, but despite the lapse of more than eight weeks, his application has not elicited a response.

Mr. Amol Sinha, learned Standing Counsel for the State, submits that the petitioner’s application will be disposed of, within a period of four weeks from today.

In view of the above statement, no further relief is sought in the petition. The petition, alongwith pending application, is therefore disposed of, in terms of the submission of Mr. Sinha.

The decision of the respondent with regard to the parole application, be conveyed to the petitioner within two weeks thereafter.

In the event of any adverse orders, the petitioner’s rights and remedies remain reserved.
