The present writ petition under Section 528 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023¹ (corresponding to Section 482 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973² ) seeks quashing of FIR No. 0067/2020 dated 02^nd March, 2020, under Sections 182, 505(1) and 505(2) of Indian Penal Code, 1860³ , registered at P.S. Govind Puri, New Delhi, as well as proceedings arising thereof. The aforenoted FIR has been lodged against the Petitioner, on behalf of the State of GNCTD, for spreading false rumours of purported communal violence and arson.

Through this petition, the Petitioner contends that he has compromised the matter with Respondent No. 2, who is his niece, and is
