Petitioners seek initiation of contempt proceedings against the respondents for wilful disobedience of the specific directions contained in order dated 02.08.2024 passed by learned Division Bench of this Court in W.P.(C) 17551/2022 whereby the respondents were directed to ensure that the proposed cadre review was completed on or before 31.12.2024.

Mr. Ripudaman Bhardwaj, learned Standing Counsel for respondents, appears on advance notice and, on instructions, submits that the cadre review committee has already done the initial exercise and has even submitted its report along with recommendations. He further submits that such report shall be placed, within a period of three weeks from today, before the Competent Authority i.e. Ministry of Home Affairs for taking final decision in the matter.

In view of the above said statement, at this stage, there does not seem to be any purpose in continuing with the present contempt petition. The same is, accordingly, disposed of.

It is clarified that, in case, nothing further is done by the Ministry of Home Affairs with in a reasonable period, the petitioner would be at liberty to revive the present contempt petition by moving appropriate application.

A copy of this order be given dasti to Mr. Bhardwaj, for communicating the same to the concerned Authority.
