Vide judgment dated 2nd April, 2024, this Court had directed the Delhi State Legal Services Authority to bring forward proposals for employment of acid attack victims in the present case in any Department of Delhi Government to ensure their rehabilitation.

Pursuant to the same, in order dated 10th May, 2024 the Court observed as under:

“1. Pursuant to directions issued vide judgment dated 02.04.2024, status report dated 27.04.2024 has been filed by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority, which is on record.

2. In Para-6 of the status report dated 27.04.2024, it is mentioned that the bio-data of both the victims, along with copies of their educational and technical/vocational qualifications, has been sent to the Additional Director, Law, Justice and Legislative Affairs, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, for necessary forwarding to the concerned department for rehabilitation of both the acid attack victims.

3. The authority concerned shall take final decision before the next date of hearing, failing which the Secretary of Department of Law, Justice and Legislative Affairs, Govt. of NCT of Delhi shall remain personally present in Court on the next date.”

On the last date of hearing i.e., 25th October, 2024, the Court had directed GNCTD to a status report regarding the progress with respect to the employment within the next three months.

Today, there is no status report by the GNCTD. All the compliances except in respect of job of rehabilitation of the Victims and treatment is stated to have been effected. Accordingly, let the judgment dated 2nd April, 2024 along with the order dated 25^th October, 2024 be placed before the Law Secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice, GNCTD for appropriate action in accordance with law.
