By this petition the petitioner seeks bail in case FIR No.355/2016 under Sections 498A/304B/34 IPC registered at PS Karawal Nagar, Delhi.

Brief background of the case is that on 17^th October 2016 a PCR call was received vide DD No.71B at PS Karawal Nagar informing that a lady had hanged herself at Prem Vihar, Phase-4, near Ganga Memorial Hospital. On receipt of the same, when SI Sandeep Kumar reached the spot he found that one Jyoti wife of Ravinder Sharma had hanged herself with the ceiling fan and she was brought down by her in-laws. Jyoti was taken to GTB Hospital by her parents. Jyoti was declared brought dead. As per the postmortem report besides ante-mortem injuries caused by hanging there were four superficial injuries as well. On inspection of the dead body on the left BAIL APPLN. 67/2018 Page 1 of 2

hand palm of Jyoti it was found written ‘ Mein Jeena Nahi Chahti, Jyoti, Mere Marne Ke Baad Ravi Ji Se Koi Kuchh Mat Kahna, Uski Koi Galti Nahi Hai’ . Statements of the family members of Jyoti were recorded.

The above noted FIR was registered on the statement of the brother of Jyoti who stated that Jyoti was married to Ravinder on 26^th April, 2016. In the marriage besides the jewellery they also gave cash and a motorbike. Further, four days after her marriage her parents-in law and husband demanded a four wheeler vehicle. On 16^th October, 2016 in the afternoon he had gone to his sister’s place with articles for the festival of karwachauth. The articles included a sari for the petitioner, who was the mother-in-law, sari for his sister, bangles, pooja articles and five packs of sweets. At that time the petitioner herein demanded a four wheeler car on which his sister stated that they will talk about it later. On 17^th October, 2016 at about 7.30 PM father-in-law of Jyoti called up saying Jyoti had hanged herself. When he went to the house of Jyoti along with his brother, he found nobody present in the house and the body of Jyoti was lying in the Gali outside the house. Thus he took Jyoti in the auto to GTB Hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Statements of the brother and the mother of the deceased have since been recorded in the Court. Considering the nature of allegations against the petitioner, this Court does not find it fit to grant bail to the petitioner. 5. Petition is dismissed.
