Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits

that the petitioner is in custody for 1 year 11 months and the trial of the case is still continuing. Petitioner is languishing in jail for a considerable period of time and there is no possibility of the trial concluding in near future, as such, the petitioner may be released on bail on any stringent conditions.

Learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail

and submits a report which reflects that 17 witnesses have been examined till date and the prosecution intends to examine 6 more witnesses which include two police personnel and the investigating officer along with two finger print experts and one other witness. The Inspector-in-Charge, Ranaghat Police Station has stated in the report that by August, 2026, the prosecution witnesses would be completed.

In view of the prosecution submitting a report before this Court, I direct the learned trial court will release the petitioner on bail in case by 31^st August, 2026 the evidence of the prosecution witnesses are not over, provided there is no time consumed by the accused persons in stretching the time period within the aforesaid schedule.

With the aforesaid observations, the application for bail

being CRM(M)2065 of 2025 is dismissed.
