By an order dated March 22, 2017, WP 7697 (W) of 2017 was disposed of by directing the Treasury Officer, Kakdwip to pay to the petitioner interest at the rate of 9 per cent per annum on the amount released in favour of the petitioner by way of pensionary benefit on and from June 15, 1990 till the date of issuance of Pension Payment Order.
Several appeals were preferred by the Director of Pension, Provident Fund and Group Insurance against several similar orders as the one above. A bunch of such appeals was disposed of by the Hon’ble Division Bench by a judgment and order dated March 24, 2021, modifying the single judge’s order to the extent that interest on arrear pension will be payable at the rate of 9 per cent per annum from November 1, 2010 instead of June 15, 1990.
In view of the aforesaid, I dispose of this contempt application by clarifying that the petitioner shall be entitled to receive interest on arrear pension at the rate of 9 per cent per annum from November 1, 2010 till the date of issuance of Pension Payment Order. Such interest shall be payable by the

Treasury Officer, Kakdwip to the petitioner within two weeks from the date of communication of this order by the petitioner to the Treasury Officer, Kakdwip.
Rule is discharged.
WPCRC 244 of 2019 is disposed of.
