The petitioner participated in response to the employment notification dated 25th October, 2019 for the post of Associate Professor, International Relations in unreserved category. His name appeared at serial No. 5 of the revised list published by Jadavpur University on 12th December, 2019.
The grievance of the petitioner is that the selection process has not been concluded till date.
The petitioner relies upon the guidelines for Recruitment of Faculty in Universities, Colleges and Institutions deemed to be Universities published by the University Grants Commission.
The selection procedure mentioned in the guidelines clearly lays down that the Higher Education Institutions should initiate and complete the selection process within a period of six months in terms of the

schedule given thereunder. The period as mentioned in the time frame for recruitment is long over.
In view of the above, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the Jadavpur University to conclude the selection process strictly in accordance with law, at the earliest, but positively within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of a copy of this order.
Affidavit-of-service filed in Court today is taken on record.
Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties after completion of all legal formalities.
