The petitioners claim to be working for upliftment of the residents of Linking Road area. The petitioners' grievance is that the petitioners had lodged complaint dated 27/1/2009 with Khar Police Station. According to the petitioners, though a cognizable offence was disclosed, the police did not register the offence.

Learned A.P.P. has tendered in the court letter dated 2/8/2010 addressed by the Senior Police Inspector, Khar Police Station, to her. The said letter is marked X . In the said letter, it is stated that in respect of the incident dated 23/1/2009 which according to the petitioners had taken place within the jurisdiction of Khar Police Station and in respect of which the petitioners had sent complaint dated 27/1/2009, the Khar Police Station has registered offence under Section 37(3) read with Section 135 of the Bombay Police Act, 1951 against Smt. Kavita Rodrigues and Ors. vide C.R. No.4 of 2009. Since the offence has already been registered, we expect the police to look into the grievance made by the petitioners in their complaint dated 27/1/2009 in accordance with law.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that Mrs. Anandani Thakoor and Ms. Aftab Siddique apprehend danger to their lives and, therefore, appropriate direction may be given to the police to give police protection to

them. So far as this aspect is concerned, citizens are required to send a complaint / representation to the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai. The petitioners can, if it so chooses, file an appropriate complaint / representation to the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai. Needless to say that if such complaint / representation is made, the Commissioner of Police will look into it in accordance with law.

Needless to say that if any PIL with regard to the police protection is pending in this court as stated by learned counsel for the petitioners, the petitioners may intervene in that matter if so advised. Needles to say that if such application for intervention is made, it will be dealt with in accordance with law.

The petition is disposed of accordingly.
