As per the provisions of Part XIV of Chapter VI of the Finance Act 2017, the Appellate Tribunal for Foreign Exchange (ATFE) has been merged with the Appellate Tribunal under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Properties) Act, 1976 w.e.f. 26.05.2017. The file in the above said matter has been received by this Tribunal on 01st July, 2017.
Learned counsel for the respondent states that the matter is still pending in the Supreme Court. However, no stay has been granted. As the appellant is not present. Registry will issue notice to the appellant as well as his counsel to represent the case on the next date of hearing.
