The petitioner, a cine artist from Markapur Mandal, Prakasam District, had sought a writ of mandamus under Article 226 of the Constitution declaring illegal, irregular and irrational the respondents' repeated insistence that he appear before police authorities, give his thumb impression and furnish his Aadhar Card for online linkage of his crime records, alleging violation of the Andhra Pradesh Police Standing Order and of Articles 14, 20 and 21 of the Constitution, and praying for directions that the respondents not insist on submission of the Aadhar card copy and thumb impression for uploading to the crime website and not interfere with his liberty.
