The present Writ Petition is filed questioning the action of Respondents in not releasing the financial assistance of Rs.10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakhs only), sanctioned to Petitioner (Application I.D. No.OV2018119879) under „Videshi Vidya Deevana‟ Overseas Scholarship scheme, as illegal and arbitrary.

The Petitioner had applied for financial assistance under „Videshi Vidya Deevana‟ Overseas Scholarship scheme for the academic year 2019-2020 and the same was allotted with Application I.D. No. OV2018119879. After due verification, Respondent No.1 sanctioned Rs.10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakhs only) in favour of the Petitioner for pursuing Post Graduation (Network Systems) at Swinburne University of Technology. The Respondents have to release first installment after the candidate arrived at overseas by uploading Immigration Card and the second installment has to be released after uploading the results of first semester. though, the Petitioner uploaded the Immigration Card and result of first semester, the Respondents have not released the amount. Though, the Petitioner had completed his Post Graduation, the financial assistance as promised to the Petitioner was not disbursed to him. Hence, the present Writ Petition is filed.

Learned Government Pleader for Social Welfare, on instructions, submits that the application of the Petitioner would be considered and amounts would be sanctioned, if the Petitioner is within the conditions specified, for release of the amounts.
