The Court made the following Order:-

The present Writ Petition is filed questioning the action of the Respondents in not releasing financial assistance of Rs.15,00,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Lakhs only) to the son of the Petitioner, Yedla Bhanu Prakashunder, under Application ID No.OV2019122500, dated 20.07.2019, under the ‘Videshi Vidya Deevena’ Overseas Scholarship Scheme, as illegal, arbitrary and unconstitutional.

The Petitioner had applied for financial assistance under the ‘Videshi Vidya Deevena’ Overseas Scholarship Scheme for his son, Yedla Bhanu Prakashunder, and the same was allotted Application ID No.OV2019122500, dated 20.07.2019. It is submitted that financial assistance of Rs.15,00,000/(Rupees Fifteen Lakhs only) is payable to the beneficiary as per G.O.Ms.No.27, dated 12.02.2019, read with G.O.Ms.No.29, dated 27.08.2016. However, the said financial assistance has not been released by the Respondents. Hence, the present Writ Petition is filed.

Learned Standing Counsel appearing for the Respondents submits that the application of the petitioner would be considered and the amounts would be released, if the petitioner is found to be within the conditions specified under the scheme.

Considering the submissions made by the learned counsel appearing for the respective parties, this Writ Petition is disposed of, with the following directions:

(i) The Respondents are directed to examine the claim of the Petitioner within a period of six (06) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

(ii) In the event, the claim of the Petitioner is held to be in order, the Respondents are directed to release the amount to the Petitioner within a further period of eight (08) weeks.

¶37

(iii) There shall be no order as to costs.

¶38

Pending miscellaneous applications, if any, shall stand closed.
