This Criminal Petition, under Section 482 Cr.P.C., has been filed on behalf of the petitioners/A1 to A3, seeking to quash the proceedings in Crime No.203 of 2020 of Rapthadu Police Station, Anantapur district, registered for the offences punishable under Sections 420 and 406 read with 34 IPC.

During the pendency of the Criminal Petition, as both the parties had agreed for compromise, the matter was referred to

the AP High Court Legal Services Committee for mediation on 29.01.2026. Pursuant to the same, a report came to be filed on 23.02.2026 stating that the matter was settled between both the parties and 2^nd petitioner herein agreed to pay an amount of Rs.17,50,000/- to 2^nd respondent/ de facto complainant by way of Demand Draft before the High Court at the time of recording the compromise in this case.

Today, when the matter is taken up, petitioners herein/A1 to A3 and 2^nd respondent/ de facto complainant are present before this Court. They produced their Aadhar cards in proof of their identity. Learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned counsel for 2^nd respondent have identified the parties in the open Court. This Court has questioned the de facto complainant with regard to compromise and he has categorically stated to that extent that he has voluntarily entered into compromise with the petitioners herein/ A1 to A3.

Further, as per the settlement arrived before the AP High Court Mediation and Arbitration Centre, the petitioners herein have handed over the Demand Draft bearing No.047377, dated 17.03.2026, for an amount of Rs.17,50,000/- (Rupees seventeen lakhs fifty thousand only) drawn on Central Bank of India in favour of 2^nd respondent herein/ de facto complainant, in open Court and 2^nd respondent/ de facto complainant, having received the said DD, has expressed that he is not interested in pursuing the proceedings in Crime No.203 of 2020 of Rapthadu Police

This Court is satisfied with the identification of the parties and voluntariness in arriving at the compromise. As the parties have entered into a compromise and compounded the offences, the chance of conviction is bleak and remote. Therefore, in view of the compromise between the parties, continuation of the impugned proceedings is nothing but abuse of process of Court.

Accordingly, this Criminal Petition is allowed and the proceedings in Crime No.203 of 2020 of Rapthadu Police Station, Anantapur district, against the petitioners herein/A1 to A3 are hereby quashed.

As a sequel thereto, the miscellaneous applications, if any, pending in this Criminal Petition shall stand closed.
