This petition is filed under Section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (for short “Cr.P.C.”) seeking pre-arrest bail to the petitioners/A1 to A9 in the event of their arrest in connection with Crime No.24 of 2021 of Disha Women Police Station, SPSR Nellore District registered for the offences punishable under Sections 498-A and 506 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Sections 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. 2. A report was lodged by the defacto complainant stating that the marriage of the defacto complainant with petitioner No.1 was performed in the year 2004. At the time of marriage, the defacto complainant’s parents gave a cash of Rs.70,000/-, ten tulas of gold, silver utensils which worth about Rs.50,000/- and other household articles as dowry. After the marriage all the petitioners used to harass the defacto complainant by demanding additional dowry. It is stated in the complaint that they were blessed with a son and a daughter. In the year 2019 the petitioners demanded for additional dowry and also asked the defacto complainant to give divorce. Petitioner No.1 also threatened the defacto complainant that he would do away with her life if she does not agree for their demands. All other petitioners also supported him. She tried to settle the issue with the intervention of elders but she could not succeed and as there was no change in the attitude of the petitioners, she lodged the present report basing on which the crime is registered.
