3 have not evicted the 6th respondent as deposed by them in the reply affidavits. The respondents have taken a stand that the quarters are spread in vast area of Srisailam dam project and it is impossible for them to look after the quarters and to find out who is in occupation of the quarters. Such stand of the respondents, being officials of the Government, is deprecated. They are under statutory obligation to protect the government quarters from unauthorised occupations. Otherwise, it would create lot of litigation to evict and if any mishap occurred in the said quarters, the Government would be liable to pay compensation to them. If any illegal or unofficial activity is carried on they are supposed to supervise the quarters and prevent such misuse of the quarters. But they have not taken any effective steps as per the provisions of the Act. The approach of the respondents is very casual. Even after orders passed by this Court, they have not evicted the 6th respondent. Therefore, this Court found that the respondents 1 to 3 violated the orders of this Court intentionally and deliberately. Accordingly, they are found guilty for the offence punishable under Section 12 of the Contempt of Courts Act and they are imposed sentence to pay a fine of Rs.2,000/- each, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, failing which they shall undergo the sentence of simple imprisonment for three days each. The controlling officer of the respondents shall make necessary entries regarding the conviction and sentence, as indicated above, in the service records of the respondents.
