Heard learned counsel for petitioners and learned State Counsel for opposite parties.

Petition has been filed seeking a direction to authorities concerned not to compel petitioners to deposit their licenced fire arms in pursuance of impending Lok Sabha elections.

Learned State Counsel submits that State Government has issued a notification dated 3rd April, 2024 in which it has been specifically directed that in pursuance of directions issued by this Court in various writ petitions, directions for deposit of licensed fire arms are to be issued on a case wise basis upon examination by the screening committee and no general or oral orders can be passed with regard to aforesaid.

Considering aforesaid notification and submissions made by learned State Counsel, it is directed that the petitioners shall not be compelled to deposit their licensed fire arms until and unless compliance of notification dated 3rd April, 2024 has been made and specific written orders with regard to deposit of such fire arms have been issued by the screening committee upon examination of individual cases.
