The petitioners have filed the instant petition to seek protection against a threat to their lives and property from private respondent nos. 4 to 7 as the petitioners have solemnized their marriage against the wishes of their parents.

Learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel submits that the petitioners have solemnized their marriage on 14.08.2024 in Madina Masjid, Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad according to Muslim religion and the same was registered on the same day by Marriage Registration Officer at SRO Office, Sadar Fifth, District Ghaziabad.

Learned Additional Chief Standing Counsel submits that the solemnization of the marriage and thereafter, registration of the said marriage is not possible on the same day, and smacks a doubt on the documents produced before the Marriage Registration Officer by the petitioners.

In such circumstances, the Marriage Registration Officer at SRO Office, Sadar Fifth, District Ghaziabad is directed to appear in person before this Court on the next date of hearing along with the entire records including the documents produced by the petitioner nos. 1 and 2 at the time of registration of their marriage.

Connect and list this case along with Writ-C No. 25034 of 2024.

Meanwhile, if the petitioners apprehend any threat to their life and property, they may approach the respondent no. 2 to seek protection. After a fresh evaluation of the threat assessment, the respondent no. 2 shall accordingly take adequate measures.
