Heard Sri Bajhul Quamar Siddiqui, learned counsel for the petitioner as well as learned Standing Counsel for the respondents.

It has been submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that arms license no. 657 pertaining to Rifle No. A.B.-02-8115 was granted to the petitioner in 2001. Subsequently a first information report registered as Case Crime No. 273 of 2020, under Sections 323, 504, 506 I.P.C. was lodged against the petitioner and in pursuance to which notice dated 03.10.2020 under Section 17 of the Arms Act was issued to the petitioner asking him to show cause as to why his arms license may not be cancelled.

It has been next submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that the show cause notice dated 03.10.2020 was duly responded to by the petitioner by submitting his response on 22.01.2021, which is pending consideration till date. It is submitted that during pendency of the aforesaid proceedings petitioner's arms license has not been renewed.

It is further submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that grievance of the petitioner shall be redressed in case respondent no. 2 - District Magistrate, Hardoi is directed to consider and conclude the proceedings initiated pursuant to show cause notice dated 03.10.2020, expeditiously.

Learned Standing Counsel has no objection to the innocuous prayer made by the petitioner.

Accordingly, present writ petition is disposed of with direction to respondent no. 2 - District Magistrate, Hardoi to proceed to consider and decide the proceedings under Section 17 of the Arms Act, expeditiously, say within six weeks from the date of production of certified copy of this order, in

accordance with law.

Petitioner undertakes to cooperate in the proceedings before the District Magistrate.
