Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and learned Standing Counsel for the State-respondent.

By means of the instant petition, the petitioner seeks expeditious disposal of his appeal filed under Section 18 of the Arms Act, 1959 pending in the court of Commissioner, Lucknow Division, Lucknow within stipulated time.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that his appeal under the Arms Act is engaging the attention of the Commissioner, Lucknow Division, Lucknow since 2022. It is urged that some expedite order be passed.

Learned standing counsel for the State-respondent has no objection to the aforesaid.

Accordingly, considering the facts and circumstances, this Court is of the view that no gainful purpose will be served in keeping the aforesaid petition pending rather ends of justice can be met by directing the appellate authority to consider and decide the appeal of the petitioner as expeditiously as possible preferably, within six weeks from the date this order is placed before him.

It is made clear that the Court has not examined the case of either of the parties on merit and the appellate authority shall decide the said appeal strictly in accordance with law.

With the aforesaid, the petition is disposed of.
