Heard learned counsel for the petitioner, Ms. Sudha Pandey, learned counsel for respondent no. 2 - Bank.

The prayer in this petition is to command the respondent bank (second respondent) to provide the account statement, home loan duplicate copy of sanction letter as also the other documents in the possession of the bank in respect of the home loan account of the father of the petitioner

The case of the petitioner is that his father had a home loan account with the second respondent - Punjab National Bank, Holigate Branch, (erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce), Mathura. He died on 18.10.2020. As his successor the petitioner is entitled to know the details.

Ms. Sudha Pandey, learned counsel for the bank has stated before us that according to her instructions, the bank would have provided the details as sought for. However, since the petitioner has invoked the writ jurisdiction, the respondent bank is awaiting the order of the court.

Considering the nature of the prayer made as also the statement made by the counsel representing the second respondent, we deem it appropriate to dispose of this petition by providing that if the father of the petitioner had a home loan account with the bank, upon production of his death certificate the account statement and the documents as sought by the petitioner be provided to the petitioner expeditiously, preferably within two weeks from the date of production of this order.

The writ petition is disposed of.
