Petitioners, who are eighteen in number, are students pursuing B. Ed. Course from Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Gorakhpur University Gorakhpur. They have approached this Court with the grievance that in terms of the scheme framed for payment of scholarship, their claim is covered but the authorities have not released scholarship amount even after expiry of more than a year. In respect of one of the petitioners, it is pointed out with reference to documents annexed at page 29 that reason for non payment of scholarship is that the total marks of the petitioners are missing from the website of the University. Learned counsel for the petitioner points out that there is no mismatch in the marks yet his claim for payment of scholarship has not been considered.

This Court while entertaining the writ petition granted time to the respondents to file counter affidavit but no counter affidavit has been filed so far. Instructions however are received from the Director, Samaj Kalyan, contained in his letter dated 11.2.2020, addressed to the Chief Standing Counsel, as per which the District Samaj Kalyan Adhikari has been directed to get the facts examined and that a period of one month would be required for the authorities to verify the facts so as to take an appropriate decision in the matter.

In view of the stand so taken by the respondents, this writ petition stands disposed of with a direction upon the Director concerned to ascertain the facts in respect to the present petitioners and to pass a specific order in terms of the scheme framed for payment of scholarship, within a period of six weeks from the date of presentation of certified copy of this order. All consequential action shall be taken without any further loss of time.
