An FIR was lodged giving rise to the crime by the second opposite party, Santosh s/o Shiv Ratan with allegations that he is a native of village Bahadurpur, P.S. Taraya Sujan, District Kushinagar. It is reported that the day earlier on 27.10.2017, his sister, the victim aged about 17 years at about 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon hours had left home for the fields to fetch fodder for cattle. She did not return home until evening. The family searched for her but in vain. The following day, that is the day the information was lodged, her whereabouts were inquired from a number of relatives but again to no avail. At about 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon, the informant came to know that his sister's dead body was lying in the sugarcane field of one Brijesh Rai s/o Chandan Rai located in village Nainoopahar. It is said on the basis of suspicion that one Gautam resident of Peedara, P.S. Uchka Gaon, a native of Gopalganj with whom his sister would often talk over mobile, had ravished and murdered her. In his statement to the police under Section 161 Cr.P.C., the informant reiterated his stand in the FIR.
