Heard learned counsel for the parties.

Petitioner, a Senior Assistant in the office of the sixth respondent-Assistant Engineer, Flood Up-Kahnd Ist Garh Mukteshwar.

By the instant writ petition, petitioner seeks direction to the second respondent-Engineer-in-Chief, Irrigation & Water Resources Department, U.P., Lucknow, to consider his claim for promotion under the Rules on the post of Junior Engineer (Civil).

It is urged that the proposal alongwith representation of the petitioner has been forwarded by the office of the sixth respondent vide order dated 12 July 2019, which is pending before the second respondent-Engineer-in-Chief, Irrigation & Water Resources Department, U.P., Lucknow.

Learned Standing Counsel submits that the second respondent shall consider the claim of the petitioner, in accordance with law.

In view thereof, on consent, the petition is disposed of directing the second respondent to consider and decide the claim of the petitioner by reasoned and speaking order, expeditiously, preferably within a period of eight weeks from the date of filing of certified copy of this order alongwith copy of the writ petition.

It is clarified that the Court has not considered the claim of the petitioner on merits.
