5. As per the aforesaid supplementary affidavit dated 23.04.2019, land measuring 46.53 acres was needed for construction of Air Strip by Nagrik Uddayan Vibhag, Meerut. Out of the aforesaid land, the appellant herein proposed to transfer their own land measuring 20.27 acres in respect of which no sale deed/lease deed have been executed so far by the appellant in favour of Nagrik Uddayan Vibhag. Excluding the land of forest department, the remaining land measuring 18.94 acres situate in Village Gangol, Pargana, Tehsil and District Meerut was acquired by notification dated 18.12.1996 under Section 4(1) of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894. The Special Land Acquisition Officer made the award on 15.12.1998 offering compensation @ Rs.50.50 per sq. yard (60.50 per sq. meter). Dissatisfied with the offer made under the aforesaid award, the claimants filed L.A.R. Nos.52, 55, 57 and 58 all of 1999 under Section 18 of the Act which have been decided by the impugned common judgment dated 01.04.2003 passed by the District Judge, Meerut determining compensation @ Rs.250/- per sq. yard. Against the aforesaid judgment of the reference court, present four first appeals have been filed. Since, these first appeals arise from the impugned common judgment and from the same acquisition, therefore, these appeals are being heard together. Paper book has been filed by the appellant but the respondents have not filed any paper book despite time granted.
