Mining lease was executed in favour of the petitioner on 31.01.2018 for a period of five years to establish minor minerals for the lease area 169960 square meter per year. On 14.04.2018 the petitioner submitted an application to the respondent no.3, District Officer, Mines/District Magistrate, Chitrakoot to terminate the lease as entire minerals in the area concerned have already been exhausted within a period of two months.
Grievance of the petitioner is that his request for surrendering mining lease has not been considered and decided by the competent authority so far.
Having considered the facts stated in the writ petition, we deem it appropriate to dispose of the petition for writ by directing the authority concerned to decide the application submitted by the petitioner for surrendering mining lease dated 31.01.2018 expeditiously as far as possible or on before August 14, 2018 provided the petitioner may file a certified copy of this order upon respondent no.3 or respondent no.1 Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary, Department of Geology and Mining, Government of U.P., Lucknow on or before 21.07.2018.
